Well, as we earlier was talking about mage specs and I guess we all read on elitist jerks (or similar) about the absolute math behind the game and how much 1% increase in crit affects your total dps bla bla bla ... compared to investing 1 talent into 1% increased damage on fire spells and bla bla bla...

So I decided to try it out abit for myself, for after all.. we dont play in a perfect enviroment, we sometimes miss to renew a DoT or pop a CD at the right time.

So I did some tests on Arcane and Fire (not going FFB), here are my results.. reminding me to use excel next time, notepad + calculator works, but its horrible to punch numbers when lacking the numpad (on laptop).

All tests done on Heroic Training Dummy (Level ?? Boss) with one full manapool, fire got abit of a bonus here due to having 1 lvl 80 target dummy in range for the Living Bomb explosion, but had no choice... when standing in IF there always came someone starting to attack my target or buffing me.

So what are my conclusions and thoughts?
- Fire gives you ALOT more damage out from your manapool.
- In these tests, fire comes out as higher dps. But arcane got that fast nukage and even if I didnt have the chance to test it out on aoe mobs, my experience tell me arcane does more aoe damage than fire (extra talents in frost and icyveins/arcane power).
So in a raid, I think you will get higher on damage running as arcane than fire, due to all the amounts of aoe in todays raids.
- But as I always come back to, play what you find most fun. Fire is more about keeping track of your timers and procs and playing arcane is always a fight about keeping your mana up.
